July 16th - 17th

Jack and Sandy - Thank you so much for providing such a nice place. We really enjoyed ourself's. It was so nice to get up in the morning to the waterfall and a delicious breakfast.

July 9th - 10th

For folks from Florida, where 90% of the homes are single story, the prospect of having to hike the stairs to use the bathroom was an unexpected adventure. Still, Whispering Pines more than lived up to its reputation for quiet solitude and warm hospitality. As bird watchers, we were treated daily to man birds rarely, if ever, seen in Florida. The Acorn Woodpecker family here in the yard, the little Pacific-slope Flycatcher, and the covey of California Quail were a treat for us. The discovery that Eurasian Collared-Doves have become established breeders here was a surprise. For them to have swept across the country in 38 short years is remarkable. There were none in the Western Hemisphere prior to 1972! Our thanks to Jack and Sandy for the comfy bed, the burbling water fall and delicious breakfasts. We will return.

Dear Jack & Sandy - We would be much more sadder to leave, except we'll be back next week after our S. Cal. obligations. The highlight of this weekend was seeing the elephant seals at Padres Blancas. We learned a lot about their interesting ways & will hope to see them when we return. Our newest fav. store is the glass shop in Harmony - complete with expeditions. (And a great price range of products). The place was relaxing & pleasing& we thank you.

We were only here for one night but it felt like a lot longer. Hot tub & nature & awesome breakfast & great room + very relaxing stay. loved the baked tomatoes and sitting with the front window open, listening to the waterfall while watching the fireplace. We were looking for a over-night get away and found just what we were looking for. You may have even inspired us to extend our tryst up to San Fran.

Peaceful, quiet;weather perfect. Toured Hearst Castle, all the shops in Cambria. Missed the homecoming football game.
